  1. Teacher Appreciation Night - Tuesday, Sept. 26 (Tonight).  All players across all teams will be recognizing an educator of their choice.
     
  2. SnapRaise Fundraiser - runs through Oct. 5. This fundraiser includes reaching out to family and friends to support the AVVB program. Thank you in advance for your support.

     

  3. VAA/Cancer Awareness Night - Oct. 2 - Let's pack the stands and celebrate our community volleyball players.
     
  4. PowerBuff Boys Volleyball games - Oct. 5 - Don't miss these very entertaining fundraising games as the freshmen boys take on the sophomores at 5:30 p.m. and the juniors take on the seniors at 7 p.m. Admission is $5. These teams are coached by the AVVB team members. 

  5. Senior Night - Oct. 16 - Let's celebrate our SENIORS and the Apple Valley Legion will provide a meal in the cafeteria following the varsity game for all AVVB players.
     
  6. Save the Date for the AVHS Volleyball Banquet Saturday, Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. - noon at Crystal Lake Golf Course.  More details to follow.

 

What's new with Apple Valley Volleyball

We hope you've been having a good year. As the school year has come to a close and we’re transitioning to summer, we wanted to provide a quick update on the latest Apple Valley Volleyball news and key dates. 

 

Apple Valley Eagles Volleyball Camp

July 24 - 27

Refine your volleyball skills! Join the Apple Valley High School coaching staff for a dynamic camp that will enhance your love of the sport. The camp takes place July 24 - 27, 2023. Focus on fundamental individual skills and enhance your team play. Build a foundation to reach your maximum potential. Emphasis is on enjoyment of the sport, physical fitness and team success. Receive a t-shirt.

Open Gym Captain’s Practices

Week of August 7

Stay tuned for more information on upcoming open gym practices led by our Varsity players. The sessions are not mandatory, but highly encouraged and provide the players an opportunity to meet other Apple Valley volleyball players, spend time in the gym and kick off the season in a fun way.  No registration or fees required.  Open to players 9-12 grade.

 

AVHS Volleyball Tryouts

Week of August 15

Mark your calendars for Aug. 14 -16 for Apple Valley High School Volleyball tryouts. Tryouts will take place Monday - Wednesday for all players in 9-12 grade. Please watch for and register for tryouts through myPayments Plus. We encourage you to arrive a few minutes early to get yourself ready and be prepared for a series of skill-based activities, drills and game scenarios. You’ll need court shoes, knee pads, a water bottle and lunch.  

Tryouts take place Monday and Tuesday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. with a lunch break and resume from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. On Wednesday, tryouts will take place from 8:30 -11:30 a.m. with team announcements following at 11:30 a.m.  Practices will start on Thursday, Aug. 17 (times TBD). In addition, a mandatory player/parent meeting will also take place on Thursday evening Aug. 17. More details to follow. 

 

Board Members Needed, No Experience Necessary

We would love to have you join our Apple Valley Volleyball Booster Club Board!  Everyone is welcome to attend our regularly scheduled booster club meetings and we invite everyone to consider taking on either an open officer role or a shadow opportunity to learn more about the various roles that are needed to support our AVHS volleyball program.

We would like to thank our outgoing board members:

  • Erin Smilanich, former president
  • Renee Gilmore, former volunteer coordinator
  • Charity Lewis, former Webmaster/social media manager
  • Michelle St. Sauver, former concessions manager

Open roles: 

  • President - Provides communication, leadership, organization and guidance to the Booster Board and Members. The current board will help onboard the new president to ensure an easy transition.
  • Volunteer coordinator - Responsible for recruiting volunteers, creating the signups, schedule and maintaining all tracking for required volunteer hours for each player and reporting volunteer status during monthly Booster Club meetings.
  • Webmaster/Social Media Manager – manage the SportsEngine website and manage postings on social media (or work with the players to post on social media accounts including Instagram, Facebook and Twitter).

  • Rosie Palubicki – Shadowing Treasurer
  • Kaylen Gores – Vice President

Apple Valley Volleyball Car Wash

Saturday, August 27

This Saturday, August 27, the girls are hosting a car wash at the Apple Valley High School parking lot. $10 Suggested donation. Tell your friends.

 

All teams will cover a shift:

 

  • Varsity & 9B: 1:00 - 1:30 p.m. set up
  • Varsity: 1:30– 3:30 p.m.
  • 9B: 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.
  • 9A: 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.
  • JV:  3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
  • B Squad: 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
  • JV & B Squad: Cleanup 4:30 - 5 p.m.

Upcoming Fundraiser: SNAP! Raise

We’re kicking off our fundraiser with Snap! Raise, the nation’s leading fundraising platform for

groups, clubs, and teams. We are excited to get started. It’s easy and effective and will only take 20 minutes of your time. Snap! Raise uses email, text and social media to reach out to your child’s and program’s biggest fans. Your role is simply to create a SNAP! Raise account and enter a list of 20 or more email addresses of potential supporters and Snap! Raise will take it from there. It is our hope and expectation that each family will complete this very simple task by AUG. 30 at 8 p.m. to support our program.

Open Board Positions

Please welcome Kris Nelson and Michelle St Sauver to the board. Kris will be our new Treasurer and Michelle will be our concessions manager. We are very happy to have them both on the board. 


We still have one open board position. We are looking for a  fundraising coordinator. No experience necessary. We will be happy to train you in.

What's new with Apple Valley Volleyball

We hope you've been enjoying your summer. We are quickly approaching the start of the new school year and volleyball season!

 

 

AVHS Volleyball Tryouts

Week of August 15

Mark your calendars for the week of Aug. 15 for Apple Valley High School Volleyball tryouts. Tryouts will take place at the high school from 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m., Monday - Tuesday with a break from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.  and 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

 

  • 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m., Monday, Aug. 15
  • 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 16
  • 8:30 – 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 17


Teams will be chosen on Wednesday and practices will start on Thursday.  Captains practices start the week of Aug. 8.

 

 

Required Player/Parent Meeting

Thursday, August 18

Hear from Head Coach Hannah Specktor and Erin Smilanich, AVVB Booster Club President. If your child chooses to play for the 22-23 season, this meeting is MANDATORY for both player and at least one parent.

Please bring your checkbook and your calendar. We will be asking you to pay required fees and sign up for your required volunteer shifts while at the meeting.

 

Fees include:

  • Booster club fees:
    • Varsity - $100
    • JV - $75
    • 9th and 10th Grades - $50
  • Volunteer hours deposit - Present a check for $200 that will be cashed only if you do not fulfill your volunteer hours.

 

If these fees present a financial hardship for a player or parent, please email applevalleyvb@gmail.com to discuss scholarship opportunities or additional volunteer hours.

We rely on volunteer/fundraising efforts to pay for needed items such as the website, uniforms, nets, balls, senior gifts, subsidizing the end of the year banquet and more.  Last year, we had a VERY difficult time filling volunteer spots. Watch for more information about how you can sign up on our new website (Dibs tab).

Treasurer Needed, no Experience Necessary

The Apple Valley Booster Club is seeking someone to fill the volunteer Treasurer role on the board. Don't worry, no experience is necessary. We will train you in. The treasurer role is one of our most important roles. The treasurer is responsible for

  • Tracking our spending through Quickbooks
  • Submitting a monthly budget report to the president and board (format is already established, simply updating the amounts)
  • On game/tournament days, obtaining petty cash from the bank for admissions and concessions, ensuring the money is secure at night and submitting all deposits.
